Work continues in downtown Wheatley to prevent any future gas leaks like the one that caused the August 26th explosion.
In a news release, municipal officials say crews have finished driving a conductor pipe into the bedrock at an old well in the municipal parking lot.
The 13 inch pipe surrounds the actual well, and material brought to the surface will be used to help determine the nature of the well
Cementing is set to take place today.
Once work on this well, known to officials as APEC 3, crews will begin remediation of APEC 1, the well nearest the explosion site.
