Some mosquitoes caught in a trap in Dresden have tested positive for West Nile.
To limit your exposure to the disease carrying pest, the Public Health Unit recommends you wear light-coloured clothing like long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks. Use insect repellent containing DEET and stay inside from dusk to dawn.
Residents should also take the time to eliminate mosquito breeding sites by removing any standing water from their property.
While most people won’t be affected, symptoms do include fever, headache, body aches and fatigue.
People with serious symptoms should seek medical treatment.
