15 households consisting of 33 people have been put up in local hotels and motels, and the municipality has provided some form of assistance to more than 85 households since Friday.

Officials say many of those evacuated were able to find accommodations on their own.

In the meantime, the Wheatley Arena remains open with support services, including food, clothing, and other supplies for those who need it.

Meantime, as emergency crews continue to work with the province on finding the source of a gas leak believed responsible the, local residents are coming to the aid of the community.

Thousands of dollars in gift cards were dropped off at the Wheatley Arena over the weekend to help those who’ve been evacuated, and over $17,000 has been raised online for the Wheatley Disaster Relief Fund.

Municipal officials met with representatives of the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry over the weekend to convey the urgency of finding the source of the leak.
