Even more residents and business owners in Wheatley will soon be able to access their properties as the municipality reduces the evacuation zone once again.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent said work has progressed at the site of the August 26 explosion to allow for the evacuation zone to be reduced for the third time since mid-April.
On Monday, fences will be moved for some properties along Talbot Road.
Talbot Road and Erie Street South remain closed but the municipality said they could be re-opened as soon as next week, once they are deemed safe.
In the meantime, the municipality is continuing to investigate the two remaining uncapped wells in downtown Wheatley. A conductor pipe will be driven over the well at the far end of the municipal parking lot and residents may notice hammering sounds.
