As contractors prepare to begin work on stopping further gas leaks behind the Wheatley Library, local residents will be getting an update on the situation.

Municipal officials say staff have been coordinating with contractors to begin work on the site to expose the potential water well and continue the investigation. Once more information is known about the well itself, plans for remediation can begin.

A virtual public meeting is scheduled for 10 o’clock tomorrow morning with municipal staff and officials from T.L. Watson & Associates, the oil and gas experts who have overseen previous incidents in the community.

Residents can attend the meeting using the following link:

Staff are planning to hold a similar in-person meeting later next week at the Wheatley Resource Centre to provide any updates available, however at this point a date and time has yet to be scheduled.
