Twnety-nine bridges, predominantly in rural areas, are slated to be closed or abandoned in the near future.
Chatham-Kent Councillor Bryan Fluker is proposing a plan to help set money aside.
To do it, he wants in increase the farm tax rate from 22% of the residential rate, to 25%.
Fluker says the increase would set aside nearly 1.2 million dollars per year.
Meantime Councillor Leon LeClair is looking to get more input from the agricultural community ahead of Monday’s debate.
