Will Santa Claus Be Coming To Town?

While London has announced that it will have a normal Santa Claus parade on Nov. 13 with floats and large crowds on the sidewalks, it’s still very much up in the air whether there will be any traditional Santa Claus parades in Chatham-Kent in the upcoming weeks.

Wallaceburg is planning a parade on Nov. 20 this year, but due to Covid-19 regulations, it will be a reverse parade with floats parked on Arnold Street and cars will line up and drive by the floats. There are no plans at this time to have a Santa Claus parade of any kind in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire said due to ambiguous provincial Covid-19 rules it’s complicated, as there is no information or guidance from the province on parades.

Shropshire said they have been working with event organizers to find out whether parades can go on as in past years, and plan on talking with London parade organizers to see how they are able to proceed with a parade in a couple weeks.
