Windsor Students Studying Downtown Chatham

A group of grade 9 students from Windsor have some suggestions for downtown Chatham.

The geography class at Academie Ste. Cecile International School was tasked with assessing a city’s central hub.

Olla Hilal explains their project.

“Our research question was whether Chatham’s downtown was upward, staying the same from 2012 using Google Maps, or going downwards,” Hilal says. “A few things we liked about Chatham, it’s a city to go spend the day in, it’s nice and clean, it has a nice retro theme throughout.”

Some of the students suggested Chatham’s downtown could benefit from adding more colour to the storefronts, installing benches and greenery, and hosting more festivals and events.

The students presented their work to Council on Monday.
