Winter Driving Warnings from CK Police

As Chatham-Kent gets its first real taste of winter weather today, Chatham-Kent Police are offering a few words of wisdom to local drivers.

Authorities say it is essential to make safety a priority when getting behind the wheel, and that most winter collisions happen because drivers are going too fast for the road conditions.

Avoid using cruise control on wet, snowy, or icy roads; steer gently as hard braking or quick acceleration could cause your vehicle to skid; and make sure you’re keeping a safe distance from the vehicles around you as it takes longer to stop on slippery roads.

Flurries are in the forecast into tomorrow with windy conditions and blowing snow, particularly in open areas.
