A Chatham woman is facing charges following a shoplifting incident at a local drug store.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said an employee confronted a woman about shoplifting at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Monday, and after a short altercation, was able to recover merchandise that had been concealed in the woman’s bag.
The woman then left the store and police were called. She was later located and arrested.
A 31-year-old Chatham woman is now charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
She was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
