A local man has been charged following a domestic disturbance that turned violent in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the domestic dispute at an address on St. Clair Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Authorities said a man and his common-law partner had been arguing over the course of the evening when things escalated significantly. The man allegedly pushed the woman into a wall and threw her to the ground. It is unknown if the victim was injured.
As a result, a 62-year-old Chatham man was arrested and is now charged with one count of assault. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
