
Charges have been laid after a man was assaulted while driving, leading to the vehicle crashing into a hydro pole.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the collision on Bloomfield Road in Chatham at around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Following an investigation, authorities learned that the driver was assaulted by a woman who was a passenger in the vehicle. She also grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit a hydro pole. It was also learned that the driver and passenger were breaching court-ordered conditions that prohibited them from communicating with each other.
A 28-year-old Harwich Township woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was arrested. She is now charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief endangering life, uttering threats to cause death, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
The driver, a 43-year-old Blenheim man, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
