Woman Calls 911 From Inside CK Police Station

A local woman has learned the hard way that repeatedly calling 911 from inside the police station is not the best way to get attention.

The Chatham-Kent Police Communication Centre received several 911 calls from a woman early Wednesday morning. However, the calls were not for emergencies and dispatchers learned the woman was calling from the lobby of Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters in Chatham.

The caller then became aggressive towards the dispatchers was told to stop calling.

The woman then left police headquarters and went to the Tim Hortons across the street where she continued to make 911 calls. When she continued to yell and scream over the phone, staff at the restaurant contact police to have the woman removed from the property.

Shortly before 6 a.m., officers arrived and arrested a 48-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, who is now charged with public mischief and causing a disturbance. She was later released from custody with a January court date.
