More than two dozen people went to a rally in Chatham yesterday on the Parry Bridge.
Chair of the Zonta Says No Rally Hilary Henley says it was a successful event.
“We had a very pleasing turn out. I would say there were about 30 people which, for an event of this nature, is really pretty good. We were delighted that mayor-elect Darrin Canniff and his kids joined us for the event, as did councillor-elect Karen Kirkwood-Whyte,” says Henley.
Henley says the rally is done all over the world.
“As members of the Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent, we’ve done the rally for the last 6 years. What Zonta is ‘saying no’ to is violence against women,” says Henley.
Participants wore orange to help raise awareness about violence against women and the violation of women’s rights worldwide.
