Five Chatham-Kent businesses are benefiting from a huge investment from the province.

Through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, Dana Canada, Aarkel Tool and Die, Waltron Trailers, Rulmeca Canada, and the Barry Callebaut Group will receive funding to grow their business.

Dana’s plant manager, Michael Faber, says plans to build a new assembly line for heat shields in Chatham is great news for the local economy.

“It’s great for the plant to be able to expand our capacity and increase our output and keep producing what we make. The demand for heat shields is growing all the time and being able to put that capacity into the plant here in Chatham, it keeps the business local,” says Faber.

Minister of Economic Development and Growth Steven Del Duca says each business will receive between $300,000-$1,000,000 to create a total of 70 jobs and retain 330.

Through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the businesses will receive the following:

Dana Canada – $662,229 for the creation of 14 positions and to retain 82 jobs.

Aarkel Tool and Die – $1,035,000 to create 15 positions and retain 150 jobs.

Waltron Trailers – $113,000 to create 10 positions and retain 31 jobs.

Rulmeca Canada – $499,550 to create 21 positions and retain 73 jobs.

Barry Callebaut Canada – $339,000 to create 10 positions.
