Due to COVID 19, the Chatham Maroon Alumni have decided to cancel their annual tournament that was scheduled for July 18th at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club, The 2021 Alumni Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 17/21.
Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has forced cancellation of the formal ceremony, the municipality of Chatham-Kent still plans to honour recipients of the Senior Achievement Awards.
Concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic have led to the cancellation of this year’s Festival of Nations in Tecumseh Park.
In a continued effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, all branches of Chatham-Kent Public Library will remain closed until further notice.
All library programming and events, such as books clubs and storytimes, are cancelled at all CKPL library branches. This includes all Income Tax Clinic appointments.
Due dates have been extended for items already checked out and overdue fines will not accrue during the closure. The ability to place holds on items has been paused, and holds that are ready and waiting in the branches will be held until the library reopens. Library card expiry dates will also be extended.
In light of this new directive, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby is extending the local list of bans and closures to include both BMX and skate parks, effective immediately.
The John Waddell Off Leash Dog Park in Chatham & Wallaceburg Happy Tails Dog Off Leash Park in Wallaceburg is closed till further notice, due to concerns of social distancing.
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the community, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby is ordering the closure of all city-owned playground equipment until further notice. This direction includes publicly owned basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas and outdoor exercise equipment.

All Provincial Offences Court matters between March 16 and April 3 be adjourned to another date.

The 2020 Bothwell Optimist Opti-fest & Old Autos Car Show has been CANCELLED due to Covid-19. The organizer say they will return August 6, 2021.
In order to keep Ontarians safe during this COVID-19 outbreak, our government is extending the closure of Ontario’s provincial parks and conservation reserves to May 31, 2020. This includes car camping, backcountry camping, roofed accommodations, day use opportunities, access points and all public buildings. Provincial parks and conservation reserves will continue to remain fully closed to all recreational activities.
To help limit the spread of COVID-19, Parks Canada suspends camping, group activities, and events across the country until at least May 31, 2020. Parks Canada is calling on Canadians to stay home. The current suspension of visitor services and vehicle access by visitors, as well as the temporary closure of visitor facilities, will remain in place until further notice.
It is with painful regret, and after serious deliberation by the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association (MBAA) and the Bass Tournament Committee, and given the current Ontario Emergency Measures Regulations due to COVID- 19, a decision has been made to cancel the 7th Annual Canadian Tire Mitchell’s Bay Open scheduled for July 3, 4 and 5th, 2020. Our focus will remain on resuming the tournament in July of 2021.

Based on the evolving situation with COVID-19 and the uncertainty of what the future may hold, the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has decided to cancel the 2020 Banquet and Induction Ceremony. Nominations will continue to be accepted until May 1st, 2021 and will be considered for Induction to the Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Big Fix Grassroots Cat Rescue has made the tough decision to cancel this years Thames River Poker Run.
While the Thamesville Threshing Festival was looking forward to celebrating their 45th anniversary they have made the hard decision to postpone until June 2021 to ensure the safety of our community.
Due to concern for public safety in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent have made the tough decision to reschedule Over the Edge event from June, 2020 to June 19, 2021.

Given the current global coronavirus pandemic, and placing the health and safety of all citizens first and foremost, the Board of Directors of the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame Association has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel its Induction Ceremony for the year, 2020 and to hopefully resume in 2021.
Wallaceburg’s Sydenham Challenge Dragon Boat Festival is being postponed. Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual festival is being postponed until the fall. The Dragon Boat Festival was scheduled to take place on the Sydenham River in downtown Wallaceburg on June 6. Organizers have moved the event’s date to October 3.
The 2020 St. Clair River Run will not be held. The health and wellbeing of our community is the most critical factor during the current pandemic. We are cancelling the 2020 St. Clair River Run to avoid further infections, and to ensure that resources can be focused where they are needed most.
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is officially delaying the start of this year’s camping season. All overnight camping reservations at the A.W. Campbell, Lorne C. Henderson and Warwick Conservation Areas from April 24th to May 13th have been cancelled.

Based on the recommendations by local, provincial and federal health authorities, and with support from the Ontario Marathon Canoe Kayak Racing Association, the SCRCA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Sydenham River Canoe and Kayak Race, scheduled for April 19, 2020.
