Due to COVID 19, the Chatham Maroon Alumni have decided to cancel their annual tournament that was scheduled for July 18th at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club, The 2021 Alumni Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 17/21.

Municipal Closures/Cancellations:

Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has forced cancellation of the formal ceremony, the municipality of Chatham-Kent still plans to honour recipients of the Senior Achievement Awards.

Concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic have led to the cancellation of this year’s Festival of Nations in Tecumseh Park.

In a continued effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, all branches of Chatham-Kent Public Library will remain closed until further notice.

All library programming and events, such as books clubs and storytimes, are cancelled at all CKPL library branches. This includes all Income Tax Clinic appointments.

Due dates have been extended for items already checked out and overdue fines will not accrue during the closure. The ability to place holds on items has been paused, and holds that are ready and waiting in the branches will be held until the library reopens. Library card expiry dates will also be extended.

In light of this new directive, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby is extending the local list of bans and closures to include both BMX and skate parks, effective immediately.

The John Waddell Off Leash Dog Park in Chatham & Wallaceburg Happy Tails Dog Off Leash Park in Wallaceburg is closed till further notice, due to concerns of social distancing.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the community, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby is ordering the closure of all city-owned playground equipment until further notice. This direction includes publicly owned basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas and outdoor exercise equipment.

Ward 3 residents please be advised that Four Counties Transportation will be suspended until further notice.

All Provincial Offences Court matters between March 16 and April 3 be adjourned to another date.

The Chatham-Kent John D. Bradley Convention Centre will be closing its doors to the public until further information from our local, provincial and federal government states it is safe to resume public gatherings.

Due to the COVID-19 virus the Kinsmen Fair and fireworks are cancelled this year!

The 2020 Bothwell Optimist Opti-fest & Old Autos Car Show has been CANCELLED due to Covid-19. The organizer say they will return August 6, 2021.

In order to keep Ontarians safe during this COVID-19 outbreak, our government is extending the closure of Ontario’s provincial parks and conservation reserves to May 31, 2020. This includes car camping, backcountry camping, roofed accommodations, day use opportunities, access points and all public buildings. Provincial parks and conservation reserves will continue to remain fully closed to all recreational activities.

To help limit the spread of COVID-19, Parks Canada suspends camping, group activities, and events across the country until at least May 31, 2020. Parks Canada is calling on Canadians to stay home. The current suspension of visitor services and vehicle access by visitors, as well as the temporary closure of visitor facilities, will remain in place until further notice.

It is with painful regret, and after serious deliberation by the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association (MBAA) and the Bass Tournament Committee, and given the current Ontario Emergency Measures Regulations due to COVID- 19, a decision has been made to cancel the 7th Annual Canadian Tire Mitchell’s Bay Open scheduled for July 3, 4 and 5th, 2020. Our focus will remain on resuming the tournament in July of 2021.

Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce has decided to POSTPONE their Annual Golf Tournament due to COVID-19. Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce will keep you posted for an upcoming date in the fall.

Based on the evolving situation with COVID-19 and the uncertainty of what the future may hold, the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has decided to cancel the 2020 Banquet and Induction Ceremony. Nominations will continue to be accepted until May 1st, 2021 and will be considered for Induction to the Hall of Fame in 2021.

The Big Fix Grassroots Cat Rescue has made the tough decision to cancel this years Thames River Poker Run.

While the Thamesville Threshing Festival was looking forward to celebrating their 45th anniversary they have made the hard decision to postpone until June 2021 to ensure the safety of our community.

Due to concern for public safety in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent have made the tough decision to reschedule Over the Edge event from June, 2020 to June 19, 2021.

It is with great sadness that we are officially announcing the cancellation of Cherry Fest for July 2020. This decision was not easily made and we are hoping to MAYBE doing a smaller scaled down version of Cherry Fest later on in the summer or early fall. Given the current global coronavirus pandemic, and placing the health and safety of all citizens first and foremost, the Board of Directors of the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame Association has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel its Induction Ceremony for the year, 2020 and to hopefully resume in 2021.

Wallaceburg’s Sydenham Challenge Dragon Boat Festival is being postponed. Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual festival is being postponed until the fall. The Dragon Boat Festival was scheduled to take place on the Sydenham River in downtown Wallaceburg on June 6. Organizers have moved the event’s date to October 3.

The 2020 St. Clair River Run will not be held. The health and wellbeing of our community is the most critical factor during the current pandemic. We are cancelling the 2020 St. Clair River Run to avoid further infections, and to ensure that resources can be focused where they are needed most.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is officially delaying the start of this year’s camping season. All overnight camping reservations at the A.W. Campbell, Lorne C. Henderson and Warwick Conservation Areas from April 24th to May 13th have been cancelled.

The 2020 Detroit Grand Prix has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They appreciate all the patience and support from our fans, partners and race participants and they look forward to seeing you back on Belle Isle for the 2021 Grand Prix.

All public and private schools to be closed from March 14th-May 4th.

The Children’s Treatment Centre is currently closed due to the COVID-19 precautions. Appointments will be rescheduled after the Centre has re-opened.

As we continue to cope in these challenging times with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with great disappointment that we announce Tuesday the cancellation of the remaining 2020 spring OFSAA championships and festivals.

The Chatham Maroons Prospect Spring Camp that takes place in May has been cancelled.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has closed all school playgrounds and access to playground equipment in a further effort to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Lambton-Kent District School Board is officially shutting down all its school playgrounds.

Muskoka Woods Leadership trip has been postponed for this year.

Leon’s Furniture Chatham is temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The St. Clair Street location will operate by appointment and online at www.leons.ca

Based on the recommendations by local, provincial and federal health authorities, and with support from the Ontario Marathon Canoe Kayak Racing Association, the SCRCA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Sydenham River Canoe and Kayak Race, scheduled for April 19, 2020.

All Goodwill Community Stores and Donation Centres are now closed.  Please do not drop off donations while they are closed as it creates a health risk in our communities. Sarnia and Chatham Goodwill Career Centre will be suspending in-person services until further notice. Although the Centres are closed, it will continue to provide services via telephone and virtual services.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, Diabetes Canada priority is the health, wellbeing and safety of our families. For that reason, Diabetes Canada have rescheduled their event on March 28th – Dreamer the Supertramp Experience. This show is now May 28th at 7:30pm.

Canadian Blood Services has cancelled the Wallaceburg Blood Clinic that was to be on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Beginning March 30, all LCBO stores will be closed on Mondays. Our reduced hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. remain in effect from Tuesday to Sunday. LCBO Convenience Outlets authorized to sell beverage alcohol are privately owned and business hours may vary.

Because of the vigorous spread of COVID-19, Pie-Zano’s have made the decision to close until April 6th.

Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Commissioner David Branch, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), announced today the cancellation of the 2020 OHL Playoffs. The CHL additionally announced the cancellation of the 2020 Memorial Cup that was scheduled to be held in Kelowna, BC from May 22-31, 2020.

In light of the measures being implemented to stem the spread of COVID-19 (“coronavirus”), Hike for Hospice Chatham-Kent will be postponed until Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Effective Friday, March 27th at 5 PM, Four Counties Transportation will be suspended until further notice.

Based on the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, all full-time DriveTest Centres and part-time Travel Point locations will be closed. The closures will take effect March 23, 2020 until further notice.

Sobeys Inc. branded stores: The health and wellness of our teammates and customers remains our very top priority. In our effort to do everything we can to help keep our communities healthy, as of Friday March 20, we are temporarily changing our store hours to 8:00AM – 8:00PM daily.

Starting now,  Loblaw Companies Limited branded stores are reducing store hours to allow our colleagues time for extra sanitization and a bit of rest. Supermarkets will open from 7am-8pm, with the first hour dedicated to seniors and those with disabilities. We will also reduce hours at Shoppers Drug Mart based on the needs of each community – please check online for the revised opening hours for your store.

TD Canada Trust is taking further steps to protect our colleagues and customers. This includes reduced hours at our branches as well as temporary closures. Online services including EasyWeb and the TD App will remain unchanged.

In light of the Covid-19 situation, The Walpole Algonac Ferry have made the decision to temporarily close our port of entry to protect our communities most valuable and most vulnerable at this time. We will remain open for the rest of today in order to bring our First Nation and Canadian Citizen workers back to Canada.

Dentist offices across Ontario are closed, except for emergency situations. Emergency situations include trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding or pain that can’t be managed by over-the-counter meds.

Ridgetown Curling Club has closed for the remainder of the season.

Community Living Chatham-Kent’s three Day Programs (Park Avenue, Riverview Drive, and Sass Road) and two Respite Programs (Children’s, and Adult) are closing effective March 17th, until further notice.  Also, daily non-essential supports ceased effective March 16th, until further notice.

Alzheimer’s Society of Chatham-Kent has suspended its Day Program, Education Sessions and Support Groups for the time being.

New Beginnings ABI & Stroke Recovery in Chatham and Sarnia will be closed from March 16th-April 5th.

The health and safety of our customers at the Glasshouse Nursery, employees and greater communities are of our utmost importance. With the continued spread of COVID-19, we believe it is critical to do our part to help reduce the transmission of the virus. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors to walk-in traffic as of tomorrow, Friday March 20th until further notice.

The Beer Store will reduce store hours to 10am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday, as of March 19th. Stores that operate from 10am to 6pm are unaffected. Sunday hours remain unchanged.

Effective Thursday, March 19, the LCBO will limiting their operating hours. Stores across the province will open between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

All Starbucks are drive-thru and to-go only.

Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise have made the tough decision of cancelling Rotary for Roses 2020. Refunds will be forthcoming.

Chatham Kent Quilters’ Guild meeting on March 18th at 6:30 pm has been cancelled.

Wallaceburg Legion Branch 18 is closed for a 2-week minimum.

Wallaceburg Arts Council’s “Durham Poets Society” event scheduled for March 28th is cancelled.

The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) offices across Ontario will be temporarily closed as of March 16th. All programming will be suspended until further notice.

The Chatham Granite Club has decided to end its season as of Sunday, March 15, 2020.

The Sydenham Curling Club is closed for the season.

Playback Sports Equipment will be closed temporarily, effective Tuesday March 17th.

Cineplex will be temporarily closing its network of entertainment venues. This includes the closure of all locations of The Rec Room and Playdium, as well as their entire circuit of 165 theatres across Canada through to April 2, 2020.

Wallaceburg Flying W’s has cancelled Classes, cheer practices, and birthday parties until school resumes. All classes will be extended.

Riverview Gaming Centre, Chatham ON will be closing effective Monday, March 16 and will make a decision to re-open when it is safe.

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is closed to the public until April 6, 2020.

YMCA of Southwestern Ontario to close all service locations effective today. Temporary closures, in effect until April 6th, include all health, fitness and aquatics branches, child cares centres and March Break camps.

OLG has announced the temporary closure of all casinos in the province for the time being. All casinos will be closed by Monday March 16th.

Wallaceburg Martial Arts Karate Camp has been cancelled for March Break and all monies will be refunded to those who paid.

Fit4Less clubs &  GoodLife Fitness are closed temporarily effective March 16, 2020.

Kinsmen Community Centre Gym is closed until further notice

The Ministry of Health has issued that long term care and retirement homes, hospices and supporting housing only allow essential visitors into their facilities until further notice.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons have postponed their 2020 tour including their show previously scheduled in The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on Friday March 20.

All Masonic meetings are cancelled until further notice.

Spring Session of Ballroom Classes cancelled until the week of April 6th 2020.

All Chatham-Kent Wildcats Basketball Practices are cancelled till further notice. U11 and U12 Girls and Boys Ontario Cup and Provincials are cancelled.

The Shrewsbury Maple Syrup Festival has been cancelled.

ALL Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres programming has been cancelled until further notice.

RetroFest has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The event is next scheduled for May 21st & 22nd 2021.

CK Recreation programs and services, including all public swimming and March Break programs, are cancelled indefinitely due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Chatham-Kent EarlyON Child and Family Centres will be closed, effective March 12th – April 6th due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

All licensed childcare facilities to be closed from March 14th-April 5th (at this time, this does not apply to home-based childcare settings)

All CK Arts & Culture facilities are closed, including Ridge House Museum, CK Museum, Capitol Theatre, Kiwanis Theatre, ARTspace, and the Thames Art Gallery.

Wallaceburg Museum March Break activities – cancelled

Chatham-Kent 4-H has suspended all meetings and events, for youth and adults, until at least April 3rd.

KAYO Boxing Club closed until April 4th.

Petrolia Arena – Greenwood Rec Centre – closed until April 5th.

All Chatham-Kent Public Library programs cancelled through April 5th – including March Break activities and low-income tax clinics.

Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Banquet currently scheduled for Thursday, April 16th is being postponed.

St. Clair College will move to online classes starting March 23 following March Break. The College is planning on finishing out the semester with online classes, which means they will run through to April 17. Student labs in areas such as Skilled Trades will continue to operate.

Active Lifestyle Centres in Chatham is closed until April 5th.

ATJ Classes Cancelled March 14-April 5.

Wild Child Imagination Studio has canceled all studio events for the next 3 weeks.

Chatham Pro Shop will be closed from March 14th until March 23rd.

Giant Garage Sale fundraiser for CK Animal Rescue at Chatham-Kent John D. Bradley Convention Centre March 21st has been cancelled.

All Scouts Canada events and activities are cancelled Effective Monday, March 16 until at least April 5, 2020.

Girl Guides of Canada will suspend all in-person Girl Guide activities until Tuesday, April 14, beginning immediately.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Maple Syrup Festival scheduled for March 21st and 22nd, 2020.
