The head of the local English Catholic board says a review of elementary schools in Chatham should be seen as good news.

St Clair Catholic District School Board Director of Education Dan Parr says it’s an opportunity to do what’s best for students and families.

“There is a need or at least a desire among many catholic families to try to find a way to build better facilities for their children to be educated in,” says Parr. “Rather than framing this and looking at this as something that should instill fear,I see this as a positive step forward into the future.

With declining enrollment and aging buildings, seven schools will be considered under the review. Parr says full details, including dates and locations for upcoming public consultations, will be posted on the Board’s website in the coming days.
