The Chatham-Kent Children’s Services wants the public to feel more comfortable accessing its many and varied services.

“We won’t folks to come and access the services if they need them,” said Executive Director, Teri Thomas-Vanos.  “And, I would says a secondary goal is to breakdown some of the barriers to accessing services and to reduce some of the stigma.”

CKCS held a series’ of open houses on Thursday to highlight what it does.

Its services include, among other things, indigenous services, family and child well being, developmental services and mental health services.

Thomas-Vanos also wants to increase peer-to-peer support among CK’s youth.

“We’re looking to do some more youth engagement,” she said.  “And bringing young people in to help become mentors and to embed their wisdom in our programs.”
