Mayor Randy Hope is reminding federal officials of the need for additional fibre connectivity in Chatham-Kent.

Hope hosted Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi on Monday in Chatham.

“It’s about making strategic investments around fibre and it’s so important that the federal Minister and the provincial Minister really get to the understand the strategies and what we believe is important to make sure that connectivity happens for all,” Hope says.

The meeting also included a tour of the former Navistar truck plant in Chatham; the preferred site for a new multi-use recreation complex and transportation hub.

The municipality is looking for funds from both the federal and provincial government to help with the estimated cost of between 52 and 56 million dollars.
