The new head of the Salvation Army in Chatham-Kent says she’s overwhelmed with the generosity of the community.

Captain Karen Holland took over from Stephanie Watkinson over the summer, and says the past few months have been very busy.

“There’s a lot going on,” Holland laughs. “We have great staff and employees working with us, we’re really impressed at the generosity and support that the Salvation Army gets from the Chatham-Kent area.”

Holland and her husband Stephen have spent 11 years as officers with the Salvation Army, moving to Chatham-Kent by way of St Catherines.

Operation Cover Up is now accepting donations of gently used winter coats, and the Sally Ann is also gearing up for the annual Red Kettle campaign.
