Provincial Police are investigating after roughly one million dollars’ worth of copper wire was stolen in St. Clair Township.

Officers with Lambton OPP were called to an Oil Springs Line business Monday morning. Authorities say sometime between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, the culprits cut a locked gate on the perimeter of the property to gain entry, and stole several copper wire spools.

Lambton County OPP are also looking for the public’s help in tracking down a vehicle believed to be used during the theft. Authorities say a white 2007 International model 40S heavy truck had previously been reported stolen out of Sarnia on August 2.

Police are urging scrap metal dealers and recycling facilities to contact police if they receive a large quantity of copper wire.
