Ongoing efforts to curb the drug epidemic on Walpole Island have resulted in multiple charges for three people.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Austin Road on May 26 and seized approximately $10,000 in stolen property and drugs.
As a result, three Walpole Island residents aged 41, 33, and 42 were all arrested. The three suspects have each been charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The 42-year-old and the 33-year-old are also charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
All three suspects have been released from custody with a future court date.
The OPP said the investigation that led to the drug bust was initiated as a result of the state of emergency declared by Walpole Island First Nation due to the current drug epidemic.
