Municipal officials have put together a list of over a dozen local organizations that could receive a financial boost.

Council will vote Monday on the 18 approved applicants for the Together CK Core Grants and consider a temporary two-year funding cycle.

According to the report, Together CK Core Grants are normally awarded every four years to provide operational and program-specific funding to local organizations. The grants aim to invest in local initiatives and build organizational capacity to better meet community needs.

For this cycle, 41 organizations applied, with 18 recommended for funding from the available $311,660.

The 23 organizations who were not recommended were because of ineligibility, were not incorporated non-profits, or already receive other municipal support.

Victoria Bodnar, Manager of Community Attraction and Promotion, noted in their report that “the Together CK Core Grant program would benefit from a more defined intended purpose and review of formal guidelines on eligible organizations and application activities.” They recommend that council approve this round of Core Grant recipients for a two-year cycle, allowing time for a program review ahead of reinstating the four-year funding cycle for 2028–2031 with applications being accepted in 2027.
