$2.4 Million Build For Phase 2 Of Bloomfield Business Park Comes To Council

A busy night at the virtual C-K Council table includes a potential $2.4 million expansion on phase two of the Bloomfield Business Park in Chatham.

Administration is recommending the $2,399,950 tender be awarded to Chatham’s Henry Heyink Construction Ltd.

The Bloomfield Business Park at Bloomfield Road and Highway 401 was completed in 2005.

According to the municipal website, the Bloomfield Business Park consists of approximately 105 acres of prestige industrial land with visibility on Highway 401. Sites are already serviced with municipal water, sanitary and storm sewers, three-phase electrical, natural gas and fibre.

Phase 2 of the business park will include the extension of Prosperity Way to Seventh Line West, and the extension of Seventh Line West to the existing wooded lot.

Phase 2 work will include a new sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain, curbs and gutter, granular road base, asphalt surface and street lighting.

The project was approved as part of the 2020 Capital budget. The engineering, contract administration and inspection on this project are being carried out by Dillon Consulting Limited.

In 2002, Council approved the development of a municipally serviced industrial area / business park within the Highway 401 corridor.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent hired Dillon Consulting Limited to complete the overall design of the track of land to be designated as the Bloomfield Business Park. Construction began on the infrastructure required to service the business park in 2003.

Construction of Phase 1 of the business park along Seventh Line and a portion of Prosperity Way was completed in 2005. Future potential for development in the business park has initiated the need to construct Phase 2.

Council will discuss and vote on the matter at the virtual round table on Monday night.
