CK Public Health is reporting two new cases of COVID-19 and three recoveries in Friday’s report. Chatham-Kent’s active case count drops to 33 with one local resident in hospital with the virus.
An institutional outbreak continues at Riverview Gardens in Chatham, with one active case currently linked to the long-term care facility.
Chatham-Kent’s totals stand at 543 positive cases, 507 recoveries and three deaths.
Ontario reported 1,848 new infections on Friday along with 45 deaths and 1,753 recoveries. Health officials say at least 29 of those deaths were residents in long-term care homes. There are currently 137 long-term care homes with a confirmed outbreak across the province.
Friday’s single day death total is the highest since June 4th. The province’s death toll now stands at 3,916.
The strong majority of the new cases were once again in GTA hotspots with 469 in Toronto, 368 in Peel and 205 in York.
Windsor-Essex reported 106 new cases and have now been moved into the “Grey – Lockdown” zone alongside York, Peel and Toronto.
