A local student is getting a helping hand with his post-secondary education.
Mitchell Anderson has been named this year’s recipient of the Jeff Atkinson Memorial Scholarship, supporting students heading to college, trade school, an apprenticeship, or university to study agriculture or heavy equipment operation and maintenance. The recipient must also have been a member of the local 4-H Club at some point during high school.
Anderson will soon be heading to Guelph to attend the University of Guelph to study Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics.
The $1000 scholarship carries on the legacy of Jeff Atkinson, a metal fabricator, mechanic, and farmer who died in 2016. Atkinson volunteered with the Chatham-Kent 4H Plowing Club and the Chatham-Kent Plowmen’s Association.
