Charges have now been laid after Chatham-Kent Police officer was assaulted in Wallaceburg.

The officer was investigating a counterfeit $20 bill allegedly used at McDonald’s on McNaughton Avenue last week.

Friday night, the suspect was spotted riding a bike on Dufferin Avenue, but when he was being placed under arrest, authorities say the man put up a fight and fled on foot. The officer suffered minor injuries as a result.

Yesterday, the accused was once again located and taken into custody.

The 27-year-old has been charged with fraud, using counterfeit money, assaulting a peace officer, and escaping lawful custody.
