A celebration of Indigenous culture this weekend as the Spring Pow Wow returns to Walpole Island.

It’s the first time the event has been held since 2019, thanks to the pandemic.

Two days of festivities are planned at the Walpole Island Sports Complex, including grand entries Saturday afternoon and evening and again Sunday afternoon, drumming, dancing, and ceremonies honouring victims of residential schools and the Sixties Scoop, among other things.

Over 70 vendors will be taking part, offering crafts, information, services, and authentic Indigenous cuisines,

This is the 28th year for the Pow Wow, which runs noon to 6pm on Saturday, and opens again at noon on Sunday with closing ceremonies beginning at 5.

All are welcome.
