CK Public Health is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent on Wednesday, a drop from yesterday’s 17 new infections.
With no new recoveries on Wednesday, the active case count moves to 34, with 22 current cases listed as close contact transmissions, two infections linked to an outbreak in an institutional setting, one case connected to a community setting outbreak, one unknown and eight cases pending.
There are currently no Chatham-Kent residents in hospital with the virus. However, Public Health did confirm the municipality’s fourth COVID-related death on Tuesday. The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance says the death is not connected to any patients in hospital locally. One local patient has been released. The CKHA continue to have one positive patient in the ICU who is a non-CK resident.
On Tuesday, Public Health confirmed Chatham-Kent’s first case and subsequent outbreak in a long-term care facility after a staff member tested positive.
Based on the listed 2017 population of 105,529 in C-K and with 515 total cases, 0.49% of Chatham-Kent residents have tested positive for the virus. From those 515 cases, 4 have resulted in death, or 0.78% of positive cases leading to death in C-K.
Ontario reported 1,723 new cases today along with 35 more deaths. A total of five regions recorded 100 or more new cases, with 500 in Peel, 410 in Toronto, 196 in York, 124 in Durham and 103 in Waterloo. Today’s provincial epidemiological report shows 60 new cases for Windsor-Essex, no new cases in Middlesex-London and one new case in Lambton County.
