CK Public Health is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 and an additional recovery in Chatham-Kent on Friday.
The active case count is now at 16 with 388 total cases, 369 recoveries and three deaths.
There have been no additional cases connected to the Chatham-Kent school community in the last two days.
Despite cases connected to three local school communities (St. Anne’s in Blenheim, UCC The Pines and Tecumseh Public School), CK Public Health has not declared an “outbreak” at any Chatham-Kent school facility. Public Health says the infection is not believed to have spread at any school location, but has been traced to transmission outside of the school environment.
On Thursday, Dr. David revealed the local community outbreak was traced to a place of worship in Blenheim. In turn, those church-related cases are also connected to the confirmed cases in schools in Blenheim and Chatham.
Of the 16 active cases, five are deemed close contact transmissions. Five cases are connected to the community outbreak linked to the Blenheim church, one C-K positive is connected to a workplace outbreak, two recent cases have unknown transmissions and three are pending.
The province is reporting 826 new confirmed cases with 733 recoveries and 40,000 more tests completed.
A total of 514 schools across Ontario now have at least one case, including the three affected schools in Chatham-Kent and three in Lambton County. Five schools have been shut down across the province because of the virus.
