30 Charges Laid After Police Seize Guns On Walpole Island

A 32-year-old man is facing more than two dozen firearm-related charges after police raided a residence on Walpole Island First Nation.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers executed a search warrant on Delcies Lane on March 24 and seized multiple firearms in the home.

One suspect was assessed at the scene.

As a result, a 32-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with six counts each of unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and careless storage of a firearm.

He is also charged with careless storage of ammunition, possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and several other charges related to the possession of an unspecified prohibited device.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
