A Chatham man spent some time behind bars this morning after catching the eye of a passing police officer.
An officer on patrol stopped the accused shortly before four o’clock this morning after spotting a masked man riding a bike with a trailer near Lacroix and Park Avenue West.
Police found a large axe, pry bar, and backpack on the trailer, but upon further search, police also found a number of items that had been reported stolen, including several pieces of ID.
All of the property has been returned to its rightful owner, and the 27-year-old accused is facing charges of break and enter, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-in tools.
