Flooding Expected Across CK

Heavy rain across Chatham-Kent has inundated local water ways.

Thames River flooding, February 2009.

The St Clair Region Conservation Authority is warning that water levels on the Sydenham River and its tributaries are on the rise.

Localized flooding at parks in communities such as Strathroy and Petrolia, as well as farm fields throughout the region can be expected to continue for the next few days, and some road closures in Lambton County are expected.

Meantime along the Lower Thames, officials say the combination of prolonged, heavy rain and snow melt could lead to flooding not seen in a decade.

Water levels are expected to remain high through the end of the week, with the Thames River peaking in Thamesville and Chatham by Thursday and Friday.
