Drifting Snow and Icy Roads Plague CK Drivers

Most road around CK seem to be in better shape this morning after whipping winds, icy roads, and drifting snow made for some dangerous driving conditions around the municipality yesterday.

Chatham-Kent Police say they’re getting reports of impassable drifts on some rural roads this morning. Drifts can be much deeper than they appear, and police ask that you don’t risk driving through them and getting stuck.

Two drivers were hurt in a crash that shut down part of the 401 near Tilbury yesterday – one person was sent to hospital in London in critical condition, while another was treated and released from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

And Chatham-Kent Police reopened a section of Queens Line between Chatham and Tilbury early this morning – a transport jack-knifed just before 7:30 last night, the roadway was reopened shortly before 2 this morning.

School buses in Chatham-Kent will be back on the roads today, although buses in Zone 1 – the Forest area – are cancelled.
