A celebration of small-town summer fun hits the streets of Blenheim this weekend.
Today marks the start of the 42nd Blenheim Cherryfest and Sidewalk Days, with music, midway rides, street sales, and sweet treats.
Musical entertainment for the weekend includes Canadian country artist Carson Janik, who hits the Mainstreet Stage on Friday night, with local bands Heartless Saints and Millhouse providing the opening acts.
Many of the festival’s signature competitions will take place on Saturday, including the pie baking competition, pie eating contest, and the cherry pit spit championships.
Among the other attractions will be helicopter rides from Zimmer Air, taking off from the Blenheim Medical Hub on Chatham Street North, and buskers providing live entertainment throughout the downtown core.
A shuttle bus will ferry festival-goers from the Sobey’s parking lot on Chatham Street North to downtown Blenheim from 9am to 9pm Thursday and Friday, and 9am to 6pm on Saturday.
