Chatham-Kent residents will notice something special in their mail in the next week or so.
War Amps has started mailing out its 2019 key tags.
Public Awareness Officer Jamie Lunn says since the program started, nearly 1.5 million sets of keys have been returned to homes across Canada, supporting people with disabilities and amputees like Ethan McConkey from the Brantford area.
“Ethan is able to live life to the fullest and he’s able to take part in our child amputee seminars and also able to get many different artificial limbs and artificial limb attachments so he can really participate in any activity and sport he chooses to,” says Lunn. “The war amps helps amputees across Canada and includes child amputees in our CHAMPS program and adult amputees and veterans across Canada. And we’re able to run all these programs because of the public support of the key tag service and donations from people across this wonderful country.”
Lunn says that while there is no set cost for the tags, donations to the War Amps program are always appreciated – proceeds help to support amputees and people with disabilities across the country.
