A new online 50/50 draw is being launched to help support a pair of local charities.

The Chatham-Kent Hospice and Children’s Treatment Centre will be splitting the proceeds from the latest raffle.

Foundation executive director Mike Genge says the money raised will help support programming at the Treatment Centre.

“We know right now that one of the things parents are really struggling with is because of COVID, not being able to do their therapies with staff, so we’ve been trying to do things in a different manner,” Genge says. “It’ll all go towards mental health programming, it’ll go towards doing camps for kids, it’ll go towards just helping parents out.”

Money raised for the Hospice supports day-to-day operations of the end-of-life care facility.

“We do rely on donations,” Hospice Foundation Executive Director Jodi Maroney says. “50% of our budget is covered by donations, it works out to about $108,000 every single month to be able to support the families at hospice.”
