The provincial government is dedicating 4km of Highway 40, from Plank Rd to the 402 as Veterans Parkway.

“This dedication will be a reminder for generations to come about the sacrifices that were made for our freedom,” said MPP Bob Bailey. “It’s our duty as Canadians to ensure that we continue to honour our veterans and take the time to appreciate all that they have done for us.”

The Veterans Parkway sign was unveiled at Sarnia’s World War I Memorial Forest in Heritage Park, where 102 Autumn Blaze maple trees are planted, one tree for each fallen soldier listed (at that time) on the World War I section of the Sarnia Cenotaph.

There are more than 700km of highway dedicated to Canada’s war dead.
