Chatham-Kent’s COVID case numbers continue to rise.
Public Health is reporting 61 new infections confirmed over the weekend. With 54 cases resolved, the number of people dealing with the virus has risen to 159.
Another school-based outbreak has been declared with two cases identified at Gregory Drive Public School. There are now six elementary schools in Chatham-Kent with a COVID outbreak.
Public health officials are also keeping tabs on three other outbreaks – 17 case linked to a recent wedding, 13 cases at a manufacturing plant, and 13 connected to a church.
There are 13 COVID patients being treated at the Health Alliance, 4 of whom are in the intensive care unit, two on a ventilator.
ICU occupancy sits at 90% as of this morning’s update, while medical, surgical, and critical care beds are 90.5% filled.
As far as vaccination rates go, officials at CKHA say 10 of the current COVID patients have not been vaccinated, three have an undetermined vaccination status.
Overall, of the COVID cases across Chatham-Kent since July 1st, 71% have been unvaccinated, just over 10% are partly vaccinated, not yet fully protected, or have an undetermined vaccination status. Slightly less than 18% have been fully vaccinated.
