It’s all smiles for officials at the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent with  funding for a new, expanded facility.

CTC Foundation board chair Mike Grail says it’s great to see the government following through on its promise to support local families.

“They really showed the commitment that they spoke about when the PC government came into power,” Grail says. “They are really, truly committed to the special needs population, to children and youth of our community, and to rural kids.”

*editors note: by request of the Province, we have remoted mention of the specific amount of funding being granted to the CTC-CK.

“Unfortunately for the Ministry of Community Services, they don’t have a budget line for  capital builds, and so it becomes a one-off and one-offs are tricky,” Grail says. “It requires a lot of work. You have to advocate, you need the support of your MPPs, you need the support of your community and your municipality, which we have phenomenal support.”

Community fundraising over the past few years has brought in millions of dollars, which Grail says will provide fixtures, furniture, and other interior needs for the new building.

Now, CTC officials wait to receive more information from the government on how and when the funding will be doled out.
