CK Public Health is reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 in the municipality on Thursday and four additional recoveries. The active case count increases to 37 in Chatham-Kent.
One local resident remains in hospital with the virus and two local outbreaks remain active; one at Riverview Gardens in Chatham and one un-named workplace outbreak.
Chatham-Kent has reported a total of 570 cases, 530 recoveries and three deaths.
Ontario set another new single-day record high with 2.432 new infections confirmed on Thursday. Toronto reported 737 new cases, with 434 in Peel, 209 in York, 190 in Windsor-Essex, 142 in Hamilton and 102 in Halton. Middlesex-London added 63 new infections, while Lambton County reported 11 new cases.
There are currently 919 patients in hospital (down 13 from 932 on Wednesday) with 263 (up 7 from Wednesday) in ICU and 172 (an increase of 15) on ventilators.
Meanwhile, as hospitals begin to become overwhelmed, the Ontario Hospital Association is calling on the provincial government to implement and enforce new 28-day lockdowns for “red zone” regions where the weekly incidence rate is 40 per 100,000 or more.
Premier Doug Ford is not committing to any new lockdowns as of yet but says he won’t rule them out, if deemed necessary.
“Everything is on the table,” says the Premier.
