CK Public Health is reporting nine new cases of the coronavirus and ten recoveries over the weekend.
Chatham-Kent’s “active” case count drops to 32 with one local resident remaining in hospital with the virus. Close contact transmission is responsible for 23 current cases, one positive case is connected to a workplace outbreak, one is travel-related, two are pending and four are unknown.
The institutional outbreak at Riverview Gardens in Chatham is still active, with one staff member affected.
The municipality has recorded 552 total cases, 517 recoveries and three deaths.
The province reported 1,940 new cases on Monday and 23 deaths. Eleven deaths were residents in long-term care.
Health officials are confirming 150 current outbreaks in Ontario long-term care facilities along with 84 outbreaks in Ontario retirement homes.
There are currently 857 patients being treated for COVID-19 in hospital with 244 in the ICU including 149 on ventilators. However, the government says data is missing for about 40 hospitals from December 12th report.
Monday’s epidemiology report suggests the majority of cases are affecting those under 60 years old, with 731 new cases in the 20-39 age bracket and 521 in the 40-60 bracket and 300 infections in those under 19 years of age.
Windsor-Essex is once again mentioned in the same breath as GTA hotspots, with 114 new infections. Toronto reported 544 new cases with 390 in Peel, 190 in York, 43 in Middlesex-London and three new cases in Lambton.
