UPDATE: WE’RE BACK TO FULL POWER AS OF 5 PM TUESDAY! THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE, CONCERN AND PATIENCE!

We may be sounding a little different in your radio today.  During a brief storm that hit the Wallaceburg area yesterday, what we believe was a lightning strike hit our tower and dismantled our on air broadcast at 99.1FM

We’re in the process of fixing the problem, and hope to be 100% and full steam ahead within 24 hours.

We’ve contacted our advertisers and partners and promise to fix any issues that this bump has caused our programming and your marketing on CKXS.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

We’d also like to take a moment to thank fellow engineers, some we’ve never met before, and electricians we hope to meet again.  Plus parts suppliers like GSL that came scrambling to our aid.  Your commitment to this community station is unheard of, your dedication to your industry is to be respected and commended.

If we’ve ever had doubts in how many listeners CKXS had, it was solidified yesterday from the hundreds of phone calls from listeners in the first hour wondering where our signal went, and if they could help get it back on air!!!!

Help they offered.  Listeners that were ready to climb towers, hold electrical wires, whatever it would take to get us back on air.  It only seems fitting that our community would rally to help where they could while the CKXS team quickly worked to get the signal back on air.

The only thing that the CKXS staff has pumping in their veins than community, is radio.  When problems occur, they go into another gear and jump forward to help where needed, and regardless the amount of time required, to get the problem fixed.

We hope to be back up at full steam later tonight.  In the meantime, thanks for your patience, and your passion for the little radio station that could….. even when were on crutches, battered and bruised and limping to the finish line, you’re committed to cheering for us, and making us your local station.  For that we are truly thankful.

Proud to be part of Wallaceburg, Dresden, Chatham-Kent and all the communities in between.  We are, and always will be 99.1 CKXS!
