A pair of Chatham men are facing charges after two 150-year-old door handles were stolen from a local church.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers began investigating after the theft occurred at a church in the area of Wellington Street in Chatham on Thursday at around 7:30 a.m.
Officers were able to identify two suspects who were located and arrested. A 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old man allegedly had the door handles on them when they were arrested.
As a result, both of the accused have been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000. The 31-year-old man was additionally charged with resisting arrest and possession of a Schedule I substance.
The pair have since been released from custody with future court dates.
