A local man has been charged following a shoplifting incident in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a St. Clair Street business on Saturday after the store’s loss prevention officer witnessed a man taking items from the store and leaving without paying.
Officers located a suspect a short distance away and took him into custody.
As a result, a 42-year-old Chatham man is now charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
