The Ontario government has announced new funding to support innovative programs that help prevent or address gender-based violence.

The province is inviting organizations with innovative projects or approaches to submit proposals for new community-based projects that focus on preventing violence through education and awareness, building safer, healthier communities and enhancing well-being and economic opportunities for people and families.

The government said it will be investing $100 million over the next three years, in addition to existing investments of $1.4 billion over four years to combat gender-based violence. This funding is also part of Ontario’s agreement with the federal government through the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.
