A local man has been arrested in connection to a string of commercial break and enters.

According to Chatham-Kent Police, there was a significant increase in the number of break-ins through the month of August with several incidents exhibiting a similar modus operandi.

An investigation involving Community Patrol and the CKPS Intelligence Unit reviewed video surveillance, witness interviews, and other techniques to identify one individual as a primary suspect.

On August 31st, a 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with eleven counts of break and enter, nine counts of possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing and has since been transferred to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre. He’s set to make a video court appearance on September 13th.

Meantime, authorities say the search continues for other unidentified suspects.

Anyone with information that might help with the investigation is asked to contact Constable Kevin Burgess at [email protected]. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477.)
