A London man is facing charges after he was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said several good Samaritans reported a vehicle travelling west in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Orford Road at around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday. Additional reports were then received stating that the vehicle had turned around and was now travelling in the correct direction in the eastbound lanes.
Around 15 minutes later, officers located and stopped the vehicle near Graham Road in West Elgin. Believing the driver was showing signs of intoxication, officers took him into custody for further testing.
As a result, a 36-year-old London man is now changed with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
The accused will answer the charges in court in October.
