Residents of Highgate will be celebrating a major milestone this weekend during the town’s annual fall fair.

The Highgate Fair will mark its 170th year on Saturday with the theme “Big Dreams in a Small Town”.

The event will kick off with a parade at noon followed by an afternoon of educational and enjoyable activities for attendees young and old.

“The afternoon is loaded with stuff to do with the family. We have face painting, the bubble zone, [and] the children will tear apart a big bale of hay searching for loonies. The barns [will also be] open for exhibits of agriculture,” said organizer Jeff Mardlin.

The fair will also feature a Craft & Hobby Show and the annual pedal pull competition.

Admission for the event is $5 per person but elementary school students get in free.
