A splash of colour has been added to Wallaceburg’s hospital.

A pride-theme benched was recently unveiled at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance site on Margaret Avenue, symbolizing the organization’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

CKHA President and CEO Adam Topp says the bench serves as a clear message to the community that CKHA is open and welcoming to everyone.

“We hope that by displaying symbols like this, members of Chatham-Kent’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community will feel safe and supported when seeking healthcare,” said Topp in a news release.

“CK Pride welcomes this vibrant new addition to Chatham-Kent! The pride bench enhances visibility and emphasizes that 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, along with their health and well-being, are valued at CKHA. We extend our gratitude to CKHA for their ongoing community partnership and their broader work in creating a supportive healthcare system for everyone,” added Nathan Dawthorne, Vice President, CK Pride.

The bench, located near the hospital’s main entrance, is similar to one installed at the Chatham site in 2022.
